Welcome back to the final term for this year.  So many exciting things going on – the final weeks of Year 12 and a day celebrating their years at St Paul’s, early commencement for all students, final goodbyes for some and much more!

With so much to look forward to, it will be a challenge to focus on what is happening now.  Some Year 10s and 11s will be attending the Baw Baw Latrobe LLEN’s Inspiring Health Dinner next week to network with professionals from all walks of the health industry and find out more about available careers and pathways.

A few students will be visiting HMAS Cerberus at Point Cook for the day to experience Australian Defence Force life in the Navy and find out whether this career path is for them.

Other students are undertaking work experience in various areas and exploring future options… so much happening!

As we farewell our Year 12 students, it is a reminder to Years 9, 10 and 11 students of the profound positive aspect of undertaking volunteering and work experience opportunities as well as leadership and community service experiences.  All of these co-curricular undertakings can add very positively to course applications, scholarship applications and early offer advantages in Year 12.  It is never too early to start getting involved and documenting everything you do so that it is at hand when it is needed in Year 12.  Just ask any of this year’s Year 12s!

Research has shown that family members are the most influential source when it comes to career planning – so keep those conversations going.

Virtual and Augmented Reality (AR) is already being integrated into the healthcare, tourism, advertising, entertainment, automotive, gaming and education industries.  Whether it be developing virtual prototypes, providing virtual training scenarios for healthcare providers or developing new games for the entertainment industry, Virtual and Augmented Reality are likely to continue transforming the way we live over the next decade.”

Deakin Universty, in partnership with California-based Virtual Reality company EON Reality, offer students the opportunity to study a major sequence in Virtual and Augmented Reality as part of the Bachelor of Information Technology.  Students will also have the opportunity to undertake an elective industry placement with EON Reality and work directly with VR and AR professionals on industry projects.  For information about the major go to, http://bit.ly/2dSowCN
