Being able to manage your career development is an important attribute to have and one that you will work on continuously throughout your life.

This involves:
•  being resourceful – speaking to family members and friends about your goals, your passions and getting feedback about your strengths and personality
•  meeting with Mrs Cumming to explore your options and to get tools and resources
•  analysing and mapping your values, skills, strengths, passions, favourite subjects, hobbies and interests
•  actively researching your areas of interest, setting goals and developing/updating action plans

It can all feel a bit overwhelming.  Where do you start?  When do you start?  Who should you speak to first?

Sometimes it can feel like everyone around you knows what they want to do when they leave school and this can feel isolating but do not worry.

The important thing to know is that you just have to start somewhere – it is never too early to start!  You may just discover possibilities you did not even know existed!

There are many free career websites and programs you can explore.  Some of these will be included in these newsletters – starting with one in this edition!

If you are in Year 12 and plan to apply for any of these health science courses to start in 2022, you may need to sit the UCAT ANZ (University Clinical Aptitude Test).

The UCAT ANZ is a two-hour, computer-based test which assesses a range of mental abilities identified by universities as important for practicing in the fields of medicine and dentistry.

It consists of five separately timed subtests which each contain a number of questions in a multiple-choice format.

You will sit the test in July 2021 and selected universities use your UCAT ANZ results as part of the selection process, in conjunction with your ATAR and HSC/VCE results and in some cases an interview.

You will only have one chance to sit the UCAT ANZ this year.

Key dates:
1 March
Bookings open
10 March  Concession application deadline
17 March  Access Arrangements application deadline
17 May  Booking deadline
7 June  Booking cancellation deadline
