Welcome back to Term 3 in Careers!  This term is packed with information sessions especially for Year 12 students. BUT, Years 10 and 11 students are encouraged to take part in many of these to gain useful information to help plan and gather ideas for future pathways and careers!

Hopefully, next week also sees all Year 10 students heading off to the annual St Paul’s Careers Conference Camp at Phillip Island in preparation for career planning and subject selection for their VCE years and beyond.

During this term especially, it is crucial that all dates and venues for information sessions are checked regularly as COVID-19 restrictions may impact planning by institutions and have to change at the last minute. And a reminder it is essential to book or register for events as numbers may be limited.

If students are thinking of undertaking a VET subject or apprenticeship in the near future, please see the information at the end of this newsletter about the Baw Baw Skills Centre Open Day in Warragul .

Post school qualifications

Why is completing a vocational or higher education qualification after school so important?

According to the My Career Match website:

Of the millions of jobs advertised in Australia around eighty-five per cent require a Certificate III or higher and around thirty per cent require a bachelor’s degree or higher.

Many of the careers and jobs that are around today will disappear by the time students get their first job and many new careers will be created.
